I don’t consider myself a “language” professor. While I can hold my own on the principles of Spanish and French linguistics, and I’m well versed in the cultural theories and histories of these people, all these things take a back seat to the actual experience of using languages to meet people. I spend a great deal of my time convincing students that languages are people, cultures are people. And in order to really get a grip on this world, you’ve got to experience it firsthand.

I would be happy to take on the title of “professor of getting out of your bubble and exploring the world”, although I would always feel a bit inadequate and hypocritical for doing so.

This is a really short film called MOVE. It’s up on Vimeo. And it embodies everything that I love to see in travel media. Check it out, and when you’re done check out their other films and credits. They deserve it!
