The Spanish alphabet is almost identical to the English alphabet.

Both use the same letters, and some of the letters even have the same sounds.

Spanish, like English, divides the letters into vowels and consonants.

Vowels are letters that have sounds that are not blocked or changed by the airway.

[A]  [E]  [I]  [O]  [U]

Consonants have sounds that are at least partially changed in the airway before coming out.

Letters like [B], [D], [K], [T], [P], and more!

However, unlike English, Spanish creates sounds that are made by putting two letters together. These are called digraphs (los dígrafos). Digraphs are not counted as single letters, but together they make one sound.
