Gemini – Course Schedule and Module Timing

Each World Languages French and Spanish course is designed to run for 15 weeks. FLCC also adapts these designs to run for six-week sessions in the summer and winter. We do not recommend running any of these courses in under six weeks. We also do not recommend running any of these courses for an entire academic year. In accordance with SUNY guidelines, Gemini courses should run in a similar timeframe to their college counterparts. Therefore, instructors should plan on a one semester per course timeline.

For example:

Spanish III (SPN201) :

  • September through December / January

Spanish IV (SPN202) :

  • January / February through June.

Learning Modules at FLCC run for two weeks, with a one-week Icebreaker Module at the beginning of the semester and two weeks for project presentations at the end of the semester.

We understand that there is a wide variety of schedule types among school districts. If the average school district divides this language course into six Learning Modules with extra time at the beginning and end of the semester, the average Learning Module time runs about 18 to 21 (school) days.
