  • The future tense includes a new set of verb conjugations.
  • May be used to talk about future events.

Study:

There are only a handful of verbs that are irregular in the future tense.
All of the future tense endings stay the same, but the stem of each verb changes instead.

There are three ways that the stem of the verb can change.

a. Replace the final vowel with [d].

This only works with certain [-ER] and [-IR] verbs.
Replace the last vowel with the letter [d], then add the appropriate ending.

poner
yo pondré

salir
yo saldré

tener
yo tendré

valer
yo valdré

venir
yo vendré

b. Remove the final infinitive vowel.

This only works with certain [-ER] verbs.
Remove the last vowel from the infinitive, then add the appropriate ending.

caber
yo cabré

haber
yo habré

poder
yo podré

querer
yo querré

saber
yo sabré

c. Memorize the last two verbs …

Nothing special, just got to remember them.

decir
yo diré

hacer
yo haré
