Colors (les couleurs) team up best with all kinds of things! You can use colors when you’re talking about clothing or food, objects like books or money, or things in your backpack! Colors can be used to identify places, warning signs, and how to find different kinds of help!
When using colors to describe people, places, or things we often use the verb ÊTRE to give the descriptions. When describing colors without using the verb ÊTRE , the color word comes AFTER the noun it describes – just like most other adjectives do!

Il porte un pantalon beige.

blanc(he) : white
La chatte est blanche.
The cat is white.
bleu(e) : blue
Le ciel est bleu.
The sky is blue.
châtain(e) : brown (light or medium brown) (often used to describe hair and/or eye color)
Elle a les cheveux châtains.
She has brown hair.
gris(e) : gray
Un éléphant est gris.
An elephant is gray.
jaune : yellow
Le soleil est jaune.
The sun is yellow.
marron : brown (generic term for brown) (this word never changes to reflect gender or number)
Les chaussures sont marron.
The shoes are brown.
mauve : purple
La chemise est mauve.
The shirt is purple.
noir(e) : black
Le chien est noir.
The dog is black.
orange : orange

rose : pink
