Costa Rica is a completely different world.  In one town/city you are able to experience every aspect of life.  You can shop, go to the beach, drive through the mountains, see the volcanos and hike through the rainforest all in one day.  The houses go from very poor shack like homes to condominiums in secured communities from one street to the next.  Within the town of Alajuela homes were amongst all the shops on the one way streets.  One door can be to a store and the next gate is the front entrance to the homes.  I noticed a very large bus system throughout Costa Rica that never lacked passengers.  People rely heavily on the bus system as gasoline is very expensive.

Something very different about Costa Rica is that nothing is wasted.  Everything has a use and if you don’t use it perhaps your neighbor does.   Very few things are thrown out and recycling is done by the majority and doesn’t even require a deposit.  It’s as though everyone there is doing their part.

My overall experience traveling to Costa Rica was amazing.  I am absolutely going back to visit within the next year and look forward to doing so.  I had no idea what to expect.  I feel like that’s what made this trip.  Each and every place we went was an equally interesting and eventful task.  I never thought I would have the opportunity to see such high protected natural volcanos and rainforest.  This country is naturally beautiful due to the inability to cut down trees at your own will for building purposes.

One thing we unexpectedly attended was a soccer game.  It was very interesting to see the effect different sports have on different countries.  Soccer is a very large deal and the entire town comes together to celebrate the games.  Each tour guide we had along the way took pride in their job and were proud to share the facts of the protected forests.  This trip opened my eyes to the fact that a whole different world is taking place only a 7 hour plane ride away.
